FROM ELECTRA TO CASANDRA: ITS INTERTEXTUALITY WITH THE CLASSICS

Abstract: It is our intention to carry out a review of the presence and use of mythology in the two works of Galdós whose title refers us to the name of two Greek heroines, Electra (1901), and Cassandra (1910), in the idea that the Canarian author did not use their names for mere euphonic reasons or randomly, but he used the classic myths, subverting them, to question the community about the problems that affected society at the time.

Key words: Classical tradition; Galdós; Theater; Greek mythology.
